Dave's Day 6 Thursday, June 6

Dave rode from Weatherford to PAST Bowie. Got tired and stopped at a roadside park about 6pm and decided to stay the night because of the distance to the next town with services and tired of dealing with the headwind. This would not have been my choice and I asked him if it was illegal to "camp" in a roadside park. I did not get an answer so I assume his definition of "stealth" camping may be what Holly calls "trespassing". I decided it would do me no good to worry so I prayed for him and left it in God's hands.


I kept Ella today. She now can roll over and back and roll over and over and over---so fun. Will brought me a Sonic treat in the afternoon and we played. I met Matt for dinner and a visit.

Dave's Day 5 Wednesday June 3

Dave rode from Cleburne to Weatherford today. Motels were available and the distance to the next services was further than he wanted to travel. Did some damage to his bob trailer getting it to his room on the third floor. Anticipating winds from the north tomorrow.

I kept the beautiful Ella, went to the mall to get a suit to wear to a wedding, ate dinner with Matt and Nicole and drove over and visited Mom and Dad. Good Day.

Dave's Day 4, Tuesday, June 2

Dave rode 55 miles today. He rode from Hubbard to Cleburne, Texas. He is staying in a motel today. Felt a little better today at the start, but it was still a tough day with the heat.


Ella news: She turned over from her back to her tummy and then army crawled a little bit back to the blanket. She is so much fun. The lights at Will's daycare went out yesterday so he played with us yesterday---he is fun too.

My lesson for the day: be patient: I had a 3:30 pm dentist appt. today, they said if I came early they could get started earlier. I got there at 3:15----the called me back at 4:30 pm and I left there after 6 pm. The good news was I really like the dentist and I got to have dinner with my parents and my sister. I really enjoyed visiting with them.

Dave's Day 3 Monday, June 1

Rode from Lake Limestone to Hubbard Texas. Very tough day with the weight of the trailer and the heat. Stayed in a motel to cool off and recover for the next day's ride. I will post pictures when I get them from Dave.

Dave's Day 2 on Sunday, May 31

Dave rode from Madison, Texas to Lake Limestone today. He started riding with the touring bike (Molly) today which is a lot heavier than the other one. In addition, he had panniers and a loaded trailer. Add 93 degree temperature and you have a tired guy. He went swimming in the lake and slept in his tent.

Dave's Day 1 on Saturday, May 30

I took Dave to Huffman on Saturday morning about 7am. He was riding Ruby (his red Cannondale) with no gear. He made really good time to Huntsville. He got there by lunch time and went swimming and rested until I got there about 3:30 pm. I don't have the mileage or speifics to enter here at this time---he puts those on his blog on "Crazy Guy on a Bike".

I met Holly and her family at the CISD BBQ at Buckhorn Ranch. Nice place but it was really just too hot for any of us to enjoy. We stayed from about noon to 1:30 pm. I saw very few people that I knew. Steve and Denise Goode ate lunch with us and it was nice to visit with them.

Back to Huntsville St. Park. It was really nice. We had a very shady spot and you could actually enjoy being outside. However, really thankful to have the AC when it was time to sleep.

Sunday morning I took Dave to Madisonville to start riding so that he would not be between services at the end of the day.

Last night---Friday was the program at Will's daycare. Will's class were supposed to be marching ants (dressed in red shirts and black pants with antanae). Will cried from the beginning when he looked and saw his mom. However, it did not matter, he was still really cute.

Dipping Tires and Toes

Ella and I took Dave to High Island today to dip his tire in the Gulf. He also dipped Ella's toes. After he headed out toward Huffman (destination for today), Ella and I rode down to Crystal Beach. We had not seen all of the destruction from Ike. The pictures did not do it justice and there has been lots of clean-up and rebuilding in 8 months. I looks totally different and it won't ever look the same.

Ella and I met up with Dave just before Anahuac, in Anahuac and then at I-10 and FM 563. There was a little rain, but Dave thought it was no big deal and continued on his journey. He will call me just before Huffman and I will pick him up and he will continue from that point on Saturday morning.
